COMPOSER of vocal and choral music, works for piano solo and for chamber ensemble. Former prizewinner of the Young Composers’ Competition at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (1985) and the Tong International Piano Duet Competition (2002). Several works shortlisted by SPNM (now Sound and Music) between 1984 and 1999. Nominated for a British Composer Award (2003).

CONDUCTOR of Thornbury Choral Society, Assistant Director of BBC National Chorus of Wales and Bristol Choral Society. Conductor of Bristol University Singers, 2008-9. Leader of choral workshops and singing days.

PIANIST performing around the country as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. Solo repertoire has included sonatas by Beethoven, Berg, and Scriabin, as well as music by Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Gershwin, Janacek, Ligeti, Liszt, Messiaen, Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Scarlatti, Stravinsky and Webern. Piano soloist in Beethoven's Choral Fantasia and Fourth Piano Concerto, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and Lambert’s Rio Grande. His recently released recording of piano music by John Pitts received a four-star review in the Independent (“deftly impressive”), and Musicweb International described his playing as “stunning....authoritative and tremendously agile”. Recognised as one of the best accompanists in the region, working particularly with choirs and vocal soloists.

TEACHER of piano, music theory and composition to students of all ages and abilities. Long-standing member of ISM specialist sections for Musicians in Education and Private Teachers. He has been teaching piano at Clifton College and Colston’s School in Bristol for many years, as well as maintaining a private practice.
